180 gram audiophile Vinyl with insert! 'Rap duo Havoc and Prodigy aka Mobb Deep from Queensbridge, Queens, New York returned in 2001 with their fifth album. Resurfacing, after recording Murda Muzik, this time they approached the rap-scene differently, moving away from the minimalistic stripped-down heavy violence hip/hop. Center of attention during the release of Infamy was the beef between Jay-Z and Prodigy. During the time of release Prodigy (of Mobb Deep) had been the center of Jay-Z's attack on his track ''The Takeover'' and Mobb Deep cut the track ''Crawlin'' where Prodigy strikes back on Jay-Z calling him ''H to the know''. Tracks like ''The Learning (Burn)'' featuring Noyd, ''Kill That Nigga'' and productions from Scott Storch (Dr. Dre/Nas/50 Cent) for ''Live Foul'' still display the dark beats and straight-up street rhymes Mobb Deep is known for. The first single of the album was the track ''Hey Luv'' featuring R&B group 112. Infamy sold over 800.000 copies in the USA alone, reached #26 in the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and has been certified Gold by the RIAA.

“Shook Ones Part II” might be one of the biggest records to come out of New York in the mid 90’s. From the moment you hear the bare hi-hat and the infamous line “to all the killers and the hundred dollar billas” it is an immediate adrenaline rush. The beat alone is a work of art, Havoc constructed what would go on for years as “how did he actually come up with that beat?!” amongst DJ’s and Producers alike. The infectious piano, cinematic sirens, it was no doubt that it was one of (famed New York nightclub) The Tunnel’s most signature records. As Cipha Sounds put it - “How could it not rip in The Tunnel? Just classic. 'Shook Ones Part I' was actually pretty big in the Tunnel, but ‘Part II' ripped everything." When “Shook Ones Part II” came you couldn’t help but nod your head and get lost in Havoc and Prodigy trading verses breaking down the meaning of a crook…making you shook son. Not to be left out “Shook Ones Part 1” is on the flipside that came out months earlier with a much more subdued beat and slightly different lyrics. Most 12” aren’t built like this, so to be on 7” for the first time ever this is a must have….son.
The Infamous is the second studio album by the American Hip Hop duo Mobb Deep, released in 1995. The album features guest appearances from Nas, Wu-Tang Clan members, Reakwon and Ghostface Killah. It marked Mobb Deep's transition from a relatively unknown Rap duo to an influential and commercially successful one. One of the cornerstones of the New York hardcore movement, The Infamous is Mobb Deep's masterpiece, a relentlessly bleak song cycle that's been hailed by hardcore Rap fans as one of the most realistic gangsta albums ever recorded. This is hard, underground Hip Hop that demands to be met on its own terms, with few melodic hooks to draw the listener in. Similarly, there's little pleasure or relief offered in the picture of the streets Mobb Deep paint here. They inhabit a war zone where crime and paranoia hang constantly in the air. The product of an uncommon artistic vision, The Infamous stands as an all-time gangsta/hardcore classic.
Four LP vinyl set contains 10 unreleased songs from the recording sessions of group's classic platinum album The Infamous PLUS 4 additional tracks that did not appear on the CD version of the release! The Infamous Mobb Deep is a double album that will consist of one disc of new, original music and another of unreleased tracks from the recording sessions from their second studio album, The Infamous (1995). The album has been in development since 2011, but after the duo toured to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut studio album during 2013 the recording process kicked into high gear. The album's production is handled by Havoc, Boi-1da, Illmind and The Alchemist among others. One of the most prolific and original groups in hip hop, the infamous Mobb Deep are still a very active force in today’s music industry with twenty years of experience. The group has appeared on records that have sold over 40 million copies. Aiming from the Queensbridge neighborhood of NYC, the duo has been responsible for delivering some of the most popular and forever current anthems in rap music. Tracks like “Survival Of The Fittest’” “Shook Ones Part II” and “Quiet Storm RMX” have remained significant and still move crowds from NY to Tokyo. Mobb Deep’s ability to perfectly describe their gritty surroundings and lifestyle always made them a first choice for music writers and critics across the board. Mobb Deep have graduated to the role of cult group; today, they are followed by a new wave of cutting edge music listeners, as well as their original core foundation of hip hop aficionados.
By the time Mobb Deep hit with their third album – Hell On Earth – they were solidified street legends. Coming off the critically acclaimed The Infamous, Havoc and Prodigy hit the lab and came back with a soundtrack that is fitting to its title. Havoc’s production is atmospheric; laced with his trademark drums loops and sharp pianos stabs. Add Prodigy’s trademark flow and it’s evident that the pairing is such an amazing match. While Hell On Earth is essen- tially a continuation of The Infamous you can still hear the growth in both performers and Hell On Earth stands as some of their best work. The album features guest appearances by Nas, Raekwon, Method Man, and frequent collaborator Big Noyd. The album stands out for its acclaimed singles "G.O.D. Pt. III" and "Hell on Earth (Front Lines)," as well as “Drop a Gem on 'Em". Standout album cuts are “Animal Instinct”, “Bloodsport”, “More Trife Life” and “Can't Get Enough”. The previously as a B Side “Still Shinin’” still rings off and rounding out the album is the deep “Apostle’s Warning”. This album is essential listening and a must have and we are excited to have it back in print on double LP.
As one half of legendary Queens duo Mobb Deep, Havoc has crafted countless hip hop classics, from “Shook Ones Pt. II” to “Drop A Gem On Em” to “Quiet Storm” and many more. The talented emcee/producer launched his solo career with 2007’s The Kush, and has since been producing tracks for an A-list clientele that includes Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game, Nas, and Jadakiss, among many others.Havoc recently released 13, a brand new solo album featuring Royce Da 5’9”, Lloyd Banks, Raekwon, Styles P, and more. Since the album finds Havoc returning to his boom-bap roots, it’s only right that his latest single is a vintage Mobb Deep reunion. Featuring a verse from Hav’s original partner Prodigy, this remix to 13’s “Life We Chose” is an essential addition to Mobb Deep’s legendary catalog. Now available on limited- edition 7” vinyl with picture-cover.
Five years after his debut album The Kush, Havoc of Mobb Deep is back with the brand new studio album 13. Havoc is not only an underrated emcee, but also an A-List producer, having crafted hits for the likes of Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game, Nas, Jadakiss, Raekwon, and many more. 13 is a showcase for both of Havoc’s talents, as the largely self-produced effort finds Havoc rhyming alongside Royce Da 5’9”, Lloyd Banks, Raekwon, Styles P, Twista, and more.

Joseph Abajian (DJ Jab) founded Fat Beats in 1994 with nothing more than a shoestring budget and an earnest obsession with the music, the culture, and the brotherhood of New York’s burgeoning rap scene. What began as a simple vinyl shop in Manhattan’s Lower East Side quickly became an integral hub for artists, both aspiring and established, to convene and collaborate on new projects. Joseph’s timing couldn’t have been more impeccable. When the 90’s cultural zeitgeist – and, in turn, the music industry establishment – chose hip-hop as its new arbiter of cool.
International tourists and touring artists alike flocked to Fat Beats for rare vinyl, kindred spirits, and exclusive in-store performances from Jay Z, Eminem, Gang Starr, Outkast, Slum Village, Mos Def, and more. One thing was clear: the Fat Beats phenomenon could no longer be contained in a single basement shop.
In the late nineties, Abajian proceeded to open new stores in Amsterdam, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. He further expanded the company’s profile to include global distribution and record label branches. Distribution has since proven to be the company’s strongest and most enduring enterprise. Today Fat Beats Distribution stands poised as one of the country’s pre-eminent distributors of vinyl & specialty item records: a proud survivor in an industry now famous for its mortality rate. Despite market fluctuations, technology innovations, and stylistic revolutions, Fat Beats has remained steadfast in its commitment to the timeless vinyl format and to the loyal community who keeps it spinning.
