Bundle includes official 2016 reissues of Beck's seminal classics, Odelay and Sea Change, on LP and 2xLP vinyl, respectively. Odelay (LP -140 Gram Vinyl)Originally released in June of 1996, Beck's second major label album, Odelay, was his chance to prove that he was no one-hit wonder. His major label debut, Mellow Gold, had produced the hit single "Loser," but there was a sense he hadn't quite won over everyone and it was hard to tell exactly who Beck was. Was he joking? Was he serious? Was he simply some sort of beat-poet novelty act? With Odelay, he enlisted the Dust Brothers, most famous at this point for being behind the boards for the Beastie Boys' 1989 sonic-collage opus Paul's Boutique. Together they crafted a classic. Sea Change (2xLP - Gatefold + Download Card)Drawing from hip-hop, folk, psychedlia, pop, rock and experimental, Beck defined himself as a warped poet in the '90s. Always changing and evloving his moods, Sea Change is a prime example of the singer/songwriters evolution within his craft. The finest example of Beck's talents as a singer, songwriter and musician.
Ranked 31 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, Bringing It All Back Home marks the moment when paradigms permanently shifted, preexisting standards fell, and fresh aural, poetic, and sonic dialects came to fore. Albums don't come more vetted. You deserve to experience the mono edition in the finest-possible quality, just as Dylan intended. 1965's Bringing It All Back Home Blows Up Boundaries, Styles, Practicalities: Bob Dylan Pairs With a Band on Side One, Goes It Alone on Astonishing ''Thought Dream'' Odysseys on Side Two. Wider Grooves, Superior Sound, Original Mono Mix, Meticulously Mastered: Strictly Limited to 3,000 Copies, Mobile Fidelity's 45RPM Mono 180g Vinyl 2LP Set the Last Word in Analog Sonics.
'Its title references the road that spans North Minnesota to the Mississippi Delta, and the formative blues, country, and roots sounds connected to its existence. The highway also lays claim to towering musical myths and deaths, many tied to the blues lexicon and narrative. All figure prominently on the revolutionary beacon that is Highway 61 Revisited, the 1965 set that overturned rules, upended preexisting limits, and utterly changed everything in its path. Ranked the fourth-greatest album ever made by Rolling Stone, its reach, power, and content boggle the mind more than five decades after its release. Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's world-renowned mastering system, pressed at RTI, and strictly limited to 3,000 copies, this restored analog mono version presents the life-altering music in reference-quality sound - so much so that the record's famous first lightning-strike note is now indeed the ''snare shot that sound[s] like somebody'd kicked open the door to your mind,'' as once described by Bruce Springsteen. Teeming with organic energy, palpable voltage, and countless textures, Mobile Fidelity's mono 2LP set faithfully recreates the instrumentation, moods, and events associated with the six days Dylan and Co. spent at Columbia's Studio A. While many people experienced Highway 61 Revisited in stereo even at the time of its release, hearing it in mono reveals even more definition, focus, and liveliness. In particular, Dylan's voice is surrounded by more space and atmosphere, and its forefront position makes the lyrics that much more powerful. This is the way everyone would've been introduced to ''Like a Rolling Stone'' on AM radio. There's no substitute for such athenticity. Recorded amidst a time of unfathomable turmoil and frustration that witnessed Dylan booed by fans, labeled a traitor, and call into question his work, Highway 61 Revisited roars and snarls, jabs and criticizes. Its bonfire of cynicism, fury, indignation, and absurdity forever transformed rock, what it could mean, and what it could do. Supported by a thundering, commanding band that included guitarist Mike Bloomfield and organist Al Kooper, Dylan hopscotches between tempos, moods, and melodies. The symmetry of the songs references a scattered hybrid of R&B, blues, folk, soul, gospel, vaudeville, and garage rock pieces that Dylan assembles in the spene of the world's greatest aural Puzzle. Outside of ''Like a Rolling Stone'' - the six-minute-plus anthem that both challenged and chewed up all preconceived notions of an acceptable radio single by way of its length, ambition, and vitriol - every tune was captured shortly after Dylan's contentious performance at the Newport Folk Festival. The lingering impact of the hostility comes through in both the searing music and rich, literate, zinging poetry. Dylan's sneering tones, raucous arrangements, and unmistakable resentment toward both the establishment and counterculture that adopted him, and assume the form of songs such as ''Ballad of a Thin Man,'' ''Queen Jane Approximately,'' ''Tombstone Blues,'' and the stupefying ''Desolation Row.'' At its core, Highway 61 Revisited is about experience, reality, and the cruelties and truths that lie outside soporific safety nets and bourgeois ideals. These reasons - and the bold musicianship, ace performances, inimitable sonics, and vast lyrical expanses - are why the album means as much today as it did in the mid-1960s. Akin to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Dark Side of the Moon, this is an album that everyone needs to own and hear in the best-possible fidelity. And in the mix the artist spent time perfecting. Mobile Fidelity makes it happen. Bob Dylan's First Entirely Rock-Backed Album Marks Sea Change in Sound of Popular Music: Highway 61 Revisited Includes ''Ballad of a Thin Man,'' ''Desolation Row,'' ''Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues'' Brilliant Collision of Evocative Poetry, Swirling Roots-Based Soul, and Hard-Driving Blues Sounds Incredible in Mono on Mobile Fidelity Vinyl: 2LP Set Strictly Limited to 3,000 Copies Ranked #4 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time List: Album-Opening ''Like a Rolling Stone'' Challenging, Bold, Revolutionary - And Arguably the Best Rock Song Ever Recorded.

Given total creative control by producer and friend Frank Zappa, Beefheart and his Magic Band rehearsed the material for this 28-song double album for over a year, wedding minimalist R&B, blues, and garage rock to free jazz and avant-garde experimentalism.
Cassius’ story thus far is already the stuff of dance music mythology. They emerged amidst Paris' defining French Touch movement, where the likes of ‘Feeling For You’, ‘1999’ and ‘The Sound of Violence’ - alongside friends such as Daft Punk - helped shape the future of electronic music. Cassius is back with “Ibifornia”, a double-sided album which gathers their crew of friends (Pharrell, Cat Power, Mike D...), fondly nicknamed “Cassius and their Family Stone” by the duo.

This limited edition issue of Lord Willin’ features seven “big hole” 7”s on white vinyl covering all 13 tracks in the original album sequence, plus a bonus remix of “Grindin‘”. The vinyl is housed in a plastic case featuring the original album art and each 7” is housed in a mini Star Trak die-cut jacket – replicas of the label’s original 12” sleeves. The first hip-hop group signed to The Neptunes' newly formed Star Trak label in the early 2000s was a Virginia based duo known as The Clipse. The group’s first single “Grindin’,” impacted young people with its bare-boned but infectious drum beat in the same way that Run-DMC’s “Sucker MCs” did almost two decades earlier. MCs Pusha T and Malice, combined with The Neptunes’ groundbreaking production, sent a clear message to the rap world – “we are not the same” (as rapped by Malice on his opening verse on “Cot’ Dam”). Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo were able to combine their electro-punk production with just the right group to create a street masterpiece. Following in the footsteps of such rap criminologists as Kool G Rap, Nas, Jay-Z and Mobb Deep, the Clipse offer a hustler's viewpoint, with clever, hard-hitting lyrics that are consistent throughout the album. The album starts off pulling no punches. On the lead-off track, “Intro,” you get a very personal testament of crack and the drug game, a recurring motif. Songs like “Virginia” or “I’m Not You” (featuring Jadakiss, Styles P and Roscoe P Coldchain) have lyrics that play as a musical notes alongside The Neptunes’ tailored beats. “Young Boy” and “Comedy Central” fit perfectly alongside “When the Last Time” and “Cot Dam” as each song plays its part as chapters to the Lord Wilin’ masterpiece. And the stand-out “Gangsta Lean” features a slightly lighter feel paired with Pharrell's trademark falsetto hook. All in all, each song on Lord Willin’ – which was certified Gold – is essential to making it the classic that it. Fans can’t deny that it sounds as good today as it did when it first hit in 2002.
We're proud to team up with one of our very favorite labels in the world, the endlessly inspiring Constellation Records, to offer their three Fall 2016 releases at in a very discounted bundle, Bundle contains Off World's 1, Automatisme's Momentform Accumulations and Jason Sharp's A Boat Upon Its Blood, each on 180 gram vinyl LP. From the label: We’re staking out some “electronic music” terrain with three new releases this fall, all dropping on September 30th. While our label has always tried to avoid genre tags (increasingly a losing battle given the state of music platforms and discovery these days) and while the world of electronic music is surely the broadest and thorniest landscape of all in this regard, suffice it to say that Off World, Automatisme and Jason Sharp are very different yet satisfyingly leftfield albums that share some suitably frayed electric threads of sorts. Electronic music strategies, technologies, histories and sensibilities come into play, in very diverse ways, with each of these debut records – making them stand out a little differently in the context of the Constellation catalogue perhaps, but also informing one another and making a lot of sense to our ears as an album trio (somewhat in the spirit of our Musique Fragile series). The bundle includes: CST117 • Off World • 1 CST118 • Automatisme • Momentform Accumulations CST119 • Jason Sharp • A Boat Upon Its Blood
“The positive response and ongoing success of How It Should Sound 1 & 2 (first released in 2010) was as unexpected for Redefinition as a label as it was for myself as an artist. For the 5th anniversary I wanted to do something special to acknowledge what is arguably my most popular title: I figured that more music in the form of an extended sequel would be a dope way to celebrate. The tracks are combinations of obvious influences, my personal passion to contribute and challenge the craft, and the record collection I was building. I hope the audience is ready for more HISS. I had them in mind first whilst assembling the album.” - Damu The Fudgemunk If you’re reading this, we’ll assume that you are more than ready. Welcome to another installment of archived material from one of the finest purveyors of dusty, neck-snapping instrumentals to ever lay his fingers on those trusty sixteen pads: Damu The Fudgemunk. Pulled together from the same stack of basement-dwelling floppies that went into the creation of HISS Vol 1& 2 we here at Redefinition Records are confident that fans old and new will delight in this now expanded collection of material from the formative years of Damu’s craft. The (previously unheard / unreleased) beats featured in this collection were all created between 2003 and 2007 and although time moves on there are undoubtedly some things that are timeless. This is instrumental hip hop that stays true to its roots whilst building on tradition, the crack and pop of old vinyl nestled contentedly in layered compositions that knock, swing, and groove. Relax and enjoy: perhaps unsurprisingly, it sounds just like it should.
First pressing of 1000 numbered copies on blue/black/white marbled 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl, includes gatefold sleeve and 4-page booklet. The soundtrack to Tim Burton's neo classic moving picture Big Fish (2003), starring Ewan McGregor, Helena Bonham Carter, Marion Cotillard and Jessica Lange, collects classic Pop songs and a score of longtime collaborator Danny Elfman (Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, Mars Attacks! and others). The 2LP soundtrack also contains a new song from Pearl Jam, specifically written for the movie: "Man of the Hour". The soundtrack's Pop songs range from Bing Crosby's early-'30s Jazz hit "Dinah" to the '50s nostalgia of Buddy Holly's "Everyday" and Elvis Presley's "All Shook Up", right up to the '60s and '70s recollections of Canned Heat's "Let's Work Together" and "Ramblin' Man" by the Allman Brothers Band. The album was nominated for the Academy Award and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.

Over the last 30 years, Elfman has established himself as one of the most versatile and accomplished film composers in the industry. Milk, Good Will Hunting, Big Fish and Men in Black (all Oscar nominated), Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Mission: Impossible, Planet of the Apes, Spider-Man (1 & 2) and many more. Menacing, muscular and magnetic, DMX has always been hardcore rap's unrivaled top dog. After the deaths of icons 2Pac and Biggie, when rap was threatening to go soft, DMX's uncompromising intensity and street cred kept hardcore hard. He's the only artist to have five consecutive albums debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. That they were the first albums of his career makes his success even more astonishing. DMX's breakout 1998 debut It's Dark And Hell Is Hot is regarded as one of the best debut rap albums of all time, a necessary introduction to one of the greatest hardcore rappers in hip-hop history. Praised for its dark imagery, street story telling and gritty lyricism, the album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and has gone quadruple platinum. Featuring the Top Ten Rap cut "Stop Being Greedy," Top 40 R&B track "Ruff Ryders Anthem," and the Top 20 R&B songs "How's It Goin' Down" and "Damien." In celebration of the 15th anniversary of DMX's 1998 hip-hop classic It's Dark And Hell Is Hot, Universal Music Enterprises and Def Jam are reissuing the out of print album on limited edition gold colored double vinyl.
4LP box set housed in an all-black case with gold foil print, includes 20-page book with photos, liner notes by Jeff Weiss, and detailed track history by Egyptian Lover. Los Angeles native Egyptian Lover (Greg Broussard) is recognized as a pioneer of West Coast hip-hop, helping bring electro rap to the masses in the early ‘80s and influencing DJs and MCs the world over in his wake. The first West Coast rapper/producer to achieve international success, Egyptian Lover paved the way for early West Coast hip hop pioneers like Dr. Dre and the World Class Wrecking Crew, N.W.A., Ice T, Rodney O & Joe Cooley, King Tee & DJ Pooh among others. Growing up listening to Kraftwerk, Prince, Rick James and Zapp, Egyptian Lover got his start compiling mixes of his favorite records, including his own instrumental beats created on his Roland TR 808 drum machine. The club-ready cassette tape mixes started selling in the thousands. Following in the footsteps of The Sugarhill Gang, Broussard began rapping over his beats to give the party people what they wanted. The neighborhood responded, transforming him into a local celebrity. With his star status rising higher, Egyptian Lover joined Uncle Jamm’s Army and moved 10,000 person crowds at the L.A. Sports Arena with his impressive knack for scratching, performing turntable tricks and MCing. In the mid ‘80s, L.A. was becoming the electro rap capital and Egyptian Lover was at the forefront of this new West Coast rap sound, not only with his unique producer/DJ/MC aptitude, but also as label owner of Egyptian Empire Records. Selling hundreds of thousands of his 12” singles (“Egypt/Egypt”, “Dial-A-Freak”, “Girls”, “Freak-A-Holic”) to DJs and fans around the world. Egyptian Lover invented the innovative sound of combining up-tempo, synth-heavy electro beats with rap vocals. Since 1983, Egyptian Lover has remained true to his sound by recording on analog equipment, which helps create his signature sound. Egyptian Lover’s influence cannot be overstated – not only did he change the face of West Coast hip hop, but also greatly influenced electronic, techno, R&B and pop music to this day.
Grimes' first three releases on Arbutus Records, Geidi Primes, Halfaxa and Darkbloom, are now available for the first time in almost five years. And now, grab all three in one bundle at almost 20% off of the suggested retail price! Grimes - Geidi PrimesGeidi Primes is Grimes' debut LP. Originally available as a free download, and a limited release of cassettes, it's now available worldwide on CD/LP/Digital. It has a strange air of being created unconsciously while the artist herself was asleep. It is a vastly intriguing set of pop tunes highlighted by its amazing fifth and sixth songs: "Avi" and "Feyd Rautha Dark Heart", which are each frighteningly reminiscent of an unaccountable psychic experience you may have never had.It seems like an album made for very tall people about what it's like to be very small. It calls to mind the glowering of a child king amidst the many vestments and decorations of his coronation. Listening to Geidi Primes is what its like to suddenly realize you are being watched while taking a cold shower... on the moon. Grimes - HalfaxaClaire Boucher speaks a different language. And Halfaxa, her second album this year, feels like the dictionary from which we might discern just where this being comes from. Consider the title at face value; Halfaxa is just slightly removed from a place that we can understand and grab onto. This is the perfect way to describe the music of Grimes, a B.C. transplant making waves in the Montreal underground music scene. In Boucher’s last album, the Dune-referencing Geidi Primes (Arbutus), she sings in foreign languages, both real and concocted. But even when presented with comprehendible lyrics, the listener is hard-pressed to glean any concrete understanding. Halfaxa is simultaneously more human than Geidi Primes, and yet falls deeper into a hole of mystical obscurity. These songs feel as though they’re being sung through the tunnel of a labyrinth. Grimes can be the soundtrack to a witch hunt and a tape dub from a night at Danceteria simultaneously. She harnesses dark and light. “Wereglid” opens with synths that sound like plates falling and disintegrating. This gives way to vocal pitching, ominous pads, delayed drum programming and, despite any sonic abstraction, could still be said to fit neatly within a traditional pop song structure. The lyrics, as throughout this album, are designed to be an additional instrument, and not necessarily a device that gives obvious meaning to the proceedings. “Devon” is jarring for its clarity, both in purpose and presentation. Anchored by a spry tropicalia drum loop and shimmering piano chords, the song bursts with light. A gothic blast that could be likened to of a b-side from a Kate Bush/Siouxie and the Banshees collaboration, this is perhaps the only song on the album containing any reference to worldly experience. There is a strong focus on primeval and simplistic percussion to Boucher’s music, though I am apprehensive to compare it directly to club music. Even with all the fog and barriers she presents us with, at the core of her music is the human heart. There is a heartbeat in every note. Her breath is often used as a percussive element. Somehow, Grimes says more about life through her methodology than through what she literally chooses to say. Like all great world music, her sound transcends language.” Grimes / d'Eon - DarkbloomFollowing the middle eastern-tinged R&B of 2010′s Palinopsia, d’Eon’s side functions as a continuous, circular suite that comments on society’s reliance on technology through both its content and presentation (the intro “Telepathy” is largely based around a sample of cell phone interference). Chris d’Eon broadens his stylistic breadth by developing mature, contemporary takes on new and old electronic genres, whether he’s incorporating elements of Chicago footwork and new jack swing or making forays into bygone genres such as UK drum and bass and trip hop. Harnessing the dark energy of her sophomore album Halfaxa with the shimmering dream pop of Geidi Primes, Grimes’s side represents a synthesis of those two sonic personalities. Displaying a level of clarity and craftsmanship heretofore unseen in her music.

Joseph Abajian (DJ Jab) founded Fat Beats in 1994 with nothing more than a shoestring budget and an earnest obsession with the music, the culture, and the brotherhood of New York’s burgeoning rap scene. What began as a simple vinyl shop in Manhattan’s Lower East Side quickly became an integral hub for artists, both aspiring and established, to convene and collaborate on new projects. Joseph’s timing couldn’t have been more impeccable. When the 90’s cultural zeitgeist – and, in turn, the music industry establishment – chose hip-hop as its new arbiter of cool.
International tourists and touring artists alike flocked to Fat Beats for rare vinyl, kindred spirits, and exclusive in-store performances from Jay Z, Eminem, Gang Starr, Outkast, Slum Village, Mos Def, and more. One thing was clear: the Fat Beats phenomenon could no longer be contained in a single basement shop.
In the late nineties, Abajian proceeded to open new stores in Amsterdam, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. He further expanded the company’s profile to include global distribution and record label branches. Distribution has since proven to be the company’s strongest and most enduring enterprise. Today Fat Beats Distribution stands poised as one of the country’s pre-eminent distributors of vinyl & specialty item records: a proud survivor in an industry now famous for its mortality rate. Despite market fluctuations, technology innovations, and stylistic revolutions, Fat Beats has remained steadfast in its commitment to the timeless vinyl format and to the loyal community who keeps it spinning.
