Well over a year in the making, Tiger Lab Vinyl and Madhouse Production Studios teamed up to present Masahiro Ikumi's original score to to the classic 1997 psychological thriller on vinyl for the first time ever. Once again, Tiger Lab enlisted the impeccable work of Heba Kadry of Timeless Mastering NYC to remaster Ikumi's mesmerizing compositions. Not so different from the sounds of Brooklyn's own Sacred Bones or the Tri Angle Records catalog, Ikumi's score is an electronic tour de force filled with ambient layers, eerie vocal choirs, infectious rhythms, and ghostly melodies. A short but powerful listen (six tracks clocking in at 31 minutes), Perfect Blue will haunt your speakers for days.

Mondo is excited to unveil the soundtrack for Marvel’s Jessica Jones – Season One, the Netflix original series, with collectible artwork by Matthew Woodson. Sean Callery’s (Homeland, Bones, 24) score for Marvel’s Jessica Jones Season One took the tonal shift from gritty ground level action to noir. Everything you need to know can be found in “Jessica Jones Main Title” (2016 Emmy® Award winner for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music) with its mix of late night, street corner Jazz consumed by pulsating rhythms and a wailing guitar that creates a musical dichotomy thematically appropriate to the narrative of our titular hero.
Mondo is excited to unveil the soundtrack for Marvel’s Daredevil – Season One, the Netflix original series, with collectible artwork by Matthew Woodson. John Paesano’s score for Marvel’s Daredevil Season One had the unenviable task of setting the tone for the new Netflix television series. Right from the opening credits Paesano creates a powerful sense of urgency and an undercurrent of darkness, crafting some of the most kinetic musical sequences in the Marvel Universe including the bombastic tracks “Hallway Fight” and “Stick.”

Jackie is the upcoming biographical film from Chilean director Pablo Larraín. Starring Natalie Portman (Black Swan) in the title role, the movie follows Jacqueline Kennedy from the days when she was First Lady of the White House to the aftermath of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Critically lauded since its debut at the Venice Film Festival where it won the Best Screenplay Award, Jackie also received the Platform Prize at the Toronto International Film Festival and is a heavy favorite going into awards season. The score to Jackie was composed by experimental British musician Mica Levi, best known for her ethereal score to 2013’s sleeper hit “Under the Skin”. Mournful and eerie with a touch of the surreal, Levi has delivered an unmistakable musical tapestry every bit as iconic as Jackie O herself.
180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl, numbered to 500! In director Justin Tipping's feature debut Kicks, nothing is as simple as it seems. It is the story of a fifteen-year-old Brandon longing for a pair of the freshest sneakers that money can buy. Assuming that merely having them on his feet will help him escape the reality of being poor, neglected by the opposite sex and picked on by everyone - even his best friends. Working hard to get them, he soon finds that the titular shoes have instead made him a target after they are promptly snatched by Flaco, a local hood. Brandon goes on a mission to retrieve his stolen sneakers. The director intentionally derived local artists, including Roach Gigz, Dave Steezy, and Nanosaur, as well as the late Dre and Iamsu! from the San Fransisco Bay Area where the film is set. Composer Brian Reitzell from the Bay Area is notable for his soundtracks on the The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette, The Bling Ring and as a drummer for the French electronica duo Air. He was nominated for a BAFTA for the score of the film Lost in Translation. The soundtrack features previously unreleased tracks from Nanosaur, Jay Casio and Reitzell, as well as two dialogue interludes set to lyrics from Notorious B.I.G.'s 1993 single ''Party and Bullshit'' and tracks by Wu-Tang Clan, Charles Bradley, RJD2 and Mac Dre.
Doxy present a picture disc reissue of Bernard Herrmann's soundtrack for Vertigo, originally released in 1958. Herrmann wrote the bulk of the score for Vertigo, considered by many critics and by Herrmann himself to be his finest film score, in a little over a month. Hitchcock places Herrmann's background music in direct opposition to music that is played deliberately as part of the action of the film. While Herrmann's score represents the forces of destiny and the mysterious dream world inhabited by Madeleine, music that Midge plays on her radio and record player represents her world and the norms and strictures of conventional society. Herrmann scored the swirling harps and strings that imbue most of the pivotal action sequences in the film to mirror the vertigo that dogs the protagonist. Essential.
Doxy present a picture disc reissue of Sun Ra & The Blues Project's Batman And Robin, originally released in 1966. This novelty album, released during the height of the Batman And Robin craze, was initially credited to the "The Sensational Guitars of Dan and Dale" and featured an album full of tracks based on the popular TV show like "The Batman Theme Song", "The Penguin Chase", and "The Batcave". The album is entirely instrumental, except for someone singing "Batmaaaan!" in the theme song. But the interesting thing about this album, and what makes it an absolute cult gem, are the musicians who are behind it all: basically a joint collaboration between Sun Ra's Arkestra and Danny Kalb's Blues Project (one of the first psychedelic rock bands as well as one of the world's first jam bands). "Dan and Dale" were actually blues guitarist Danny Kalb and Steve Katz (later of Blood, Sweat And Tears) on dueling guitars, while Sun Ra and Al Kooper take over organ duties (a Hammond B-3) and members of Ra's Arkestra play sax.
Still one of the most highly regarded horror films of all time, F.W. Murnau’s unauthorised adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Nosferatu (1922), is an Expressionist masterpiece of the silent era. Much of the original score by Hans Erdmann (meant to be played live by an orchestra) was lost, leading Nosferatu to inspire several subsequent soundtracks, the best known of which is by Hammer Horror composer James Bernard, written for the Tanis Film video reissue of the film in 1997. The world premiere of the score was performed by Nic Raine and the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra at the London Film Festival the same year and now, almost twenty years later, the score is being pressed on vinyl for the first time.

Mondo is excited to unveil the soundtrack for Marvel’s Luke Cage, the Netflix original series, with collectible artwork of the bulletproof hero by Matthew Woodson. Composers Adrian Younge (Something About April) and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest) have combined forces to produce one of the best scores of 2016 featuring an inspired, genre-bending blend of orchestral score and 90s hip-hop beats, filtered through the sonic lens of the works of Ennio Morricone. It’s no surprise that the score hovers in the same terrain of the Spaghetti Westerns soundtracks of Morricone – the narrative of Luke Cage plays out like a modern Western, only set in Harlem. Muhammad and Younge have meticulously crafted one of the most unique sonic landscapes in the history of television. “We sought to create a score that reflects the world of Luke Cage. We see this world as a place where classic cinema meets classic Hip Hop,” said composers Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Adrian Younge.
The star-studded (David Bowie! Lou Reed! David Bowie!) soundtrack to David Lynch's surrealist masterpiece Lost Highway is, well, a masterpiece in its own right, matching the film's shape-shifting narrative move-for-move.
Black Screen Records will release Jonah Senzel’s amazing soundtrack of the critically acclaimed indie game Pony Island on vinyl this November. The bubbling 8bit soundtrack will come on limited edition 180 gram clear and audiophile 180g black vinyl. The artwork was exclusively designed by the game’s creator Daniel Mullins. The soundtrack comes with a Steam code, which can be used to download full game as well as the mp3 version of the soundtrack on Steam. Composer Jonah Senzel on the soundtrack: "Pony island is a game with two distinct faces: the cheerful outer facade, and the evil lurking under the surface. Most of the soundtrack is based around this idea of the “devil within” that's present throughout the game. The most fun part of writing the soundtrack was composing really over the top cheerful cutesy Tracks for the cheery sections and then turning around and getting as gritty and evil sounding as possible for the devil sections. For the happy sections I channeled my inner children’s TV composer using fun, light and bouncy melodies played on old school 8bit synths as well as real instruments like the ukulele. For the demonic sections I also took a lot of inspiration from classic video game chiptune sounds, but I modified them to sound like they were glitching or broken in some way. Compositionally I incorporated some elements that connect back to the game’s main theme, like the use of augmented fourths within chords Which were banned in earl classical music since they were thought to be the ‘devil’s interval’. Overall it was really exciting to write for such a unique and interesting game. I’d like to thank Daniel Mullins for creating the perfect world for this crazy soundtrack to live in." A trippy and unique experience that will make the player desperate and stunned at the same time. Pony Island is probably most enjoyable when played without knowing what to expect. Without giving too much away, it can be said that the game works mostly on the meta-level and it will take some time to figure out where the story is heading. A marvelous game for long and sleepless nights that will leave you pondering and amazed, while enjoying it's varied music that perfectly fits the constant ups and downs of cheerful and vicious moments. For more information on the game visit www.pony-island.com

Band of Brothers is a 2001 American war drama miniseries based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's 1993 non-fiction book of the same name. The executive producers were Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who had collaborated on the 1998 World War II film Saving Private Ryan. The series won Emmy and Golden Globe Awards in 2001 for best miniseries. Band of Brothers is a dramatized account of ''Easy Company'' (part of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment), assigned to the United States Army's 101st Airborne Division during World War II. Over the course of ten episodes, the series details the company's exploits during the war. It was the most expensive television miniseries made by HBO or any other television network when it was created in 2001. The music for the series was written and composed by Michael Kamen, who worked with Pink Floyd for their 1982 movie The Wall and conducted The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra for Metallica's S&M. Michael Kamen also composed scores for Highlander, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, License To Kill, Last Action Hero, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and many more. Sadly he passed away in 2003.

Joseph Abajian (DJ Jab) founded Fat Beats in 1994 with nothing more than a shoestring budget and an earnest obsession with the music, the culture, and the brotherhood of New York’s burgeoning rap scene. What began as a simple vinyl shop in Manhattan’s Lower East Side quickly became an integral hub for artists, both aspiring and established, to convene and collaborate on new projects. Joseph’s timing couldn’t have been more impeccable. When the 90’s cultural zeitgeist – and, in turn, the music industry establishment – chose hip-hop as its new arbiter of cool.
International tourists and touring artists alike flocked to Fat Beats for rare vinyl, kindred spirits, and exclusive in-store performances from Jay Z, Eminem, Gang Starr, Outkast, Slum Village, Mos Def, and more. One thing was clear: the Fat Beats phenomenon could no longer be contained in a single basement shop.
In the late nineties, Abajian proceeded to open new stores in Amsterdam, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. He further expanded the company’s profile to include global distribution and record label branches. Distribution has since proven to be the company’s strongest and most enduring enterprise. Today Fat Beats Distribution stands poised as one of the country’s pre-eminent distributors of vinyl & specialty item records: a proud survivor in an industry now famous for its mortality rate. Despite market fluctuations, technology innovations, and stylistic revolutions, Fat Beats has remained steadfast in its commitment to the timeless vinyl format and to the loyal community who keeps it spinning.
