Mark (KJV)
13:32 But of the day and that hour knows no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
13:35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house comes, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
These passages from the New Testament are referring to the second coming of Jesus. In the Christian faith, Jesus Christ is the intercessor for all mankind. We, Christians pray to God through Jesus because we are not worthy of God’s presence, but because of the sacrifice God gave us in Jesus Christ, His Son, He accepts those who believe in His Son as His children. Before Jesus came, God only spoke to the prophets and the priests had to go to the Tabernacle, into the Holy of Hollies once a year and pray for the nation. You couldn't’t pray and offer sacrifices unless you fulfilled a few rituals that are described in the book of Leviticus.
There are a few religions that believe in a monotheism view but the ones I’m quoting are Islam, Judaism and Christianity. The one thing all these religions have in common is that they are all waiting for the Messiah to come. When Moses first spoke to God, he offered himself up as a sacrifice for the sins of Israel because they had made an image of a cow and were worshipping it when Moses was on the mountain with God. Through Moses God said He would raise up another prophet that all should believe in.
Deuteronomy
18:18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in His mouth; and He shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
18:19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which He shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
There are many scriptures in the Old Testament that explain the coming of the Messiah and what He is to endure here on earth. Isaiah 53 gives a detailed description of what the Messiah, Jesus is to go through. In the New Testament you can read how Jesus fulfilled every prophecy written about his first coming. Because the demographics of Israel has changed it is impossible for anyone to fulfill the Messianic prophesies that Jesus had fulfilled.
The Muslims believe in Jesus but not how the Christians do. But interesting enough here are a few scriptures from the Quran that have the same belief that a Christian does in Christ.
Quran - Al-Imran – The family of Imran
45 Behold! The angels said: “O Mary! God gives thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the hereafter and of the company of those nearest to God;
55 Behold! God said: “O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee of the falsehoods of those whose blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject Faith, to the day of resurrection: then shall ye all return unto Me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute.
To reiterate, the Qur'an asserts in clearest terms that Jesus was a true servant and Messenger (Apostle) of God. Muslims hold Jesus in the highest reverence. He was the produce of a virgin birth; he was endowed with the power to perform many miracles; and he was sent to preach the true worship of God. (from the website http://www.jesusinquran.com/)
All the signs are pointing to the day of judgment. The Jews believe the Messiah is coming for the first time so they don’t pray through Jesus Christ. The Muslims believe Jesus is the Messiah and is coming but are always quoting Mohamed as their messenger and say they pray direct to God. The Christians believe that the Messiah did come and was the sacrifice for man and put the blood of Jesus Christ in their hearts and pray to God through the sacrifice. If you were to study all the religions of man you would not find one that has the promise that Christ offers. Every living creature will be judged by God. In legal terms theirs a saying, that a lawyer that represents himself for client, has a fool for a client. Are you going to represent yourself when your in front of God? Why not acquire the best council you can in Jesus Christ. There is no other counselor that offers what He has to offer.
