Carta’ P. (The Obvious Wonder of Adagio!) is part of the underground hip hop group Adagio! from the mid 90’s. The name change (Carta’ P.) was in honor of his son and his newly found inspiration to make music again. In September 2019, he re-introduced himself back into the hip hop world with the assistance of French Hip-Hop Producer Parental. Together, they released the critically acclaimed debut solo album “A Beautiful Mess”. After the release of “A Beautiful Mess”, Carta’ P. stayed busy exploring the globe working with many new hip hop producers and contributing to numerous collaborations/ projects.
In March 2020, he was part of the Adagio! “NY to Philly” full length anthology release. In July 2020, Carta’ P. released two vinyl/ digital projects; “Today Means Everything” (Columbian Hip Hop Producer Max One and Aaqil Ali) and The Starting 5ive Project (The Good People, Horror City, Carta’ P. and Quentin Gilmore).
In June 2021, Carta’ P. will release his latest full-length project “In My Silence” on his independent label Emo Recordings. This will mark the first of three full length vinyl/ digital releases for Carta’ P. in 2021. On this release, the independent hip hop legend Carta’ P. continues to explore the globe and use the umbrella and guidance of “one producer” to develop another masterpiece international hip hop collaboration. This project was produced entirely by Australian Hip Hop Producer Phries Beats from Perth, Australia.
The melodic baseline samples, multi layered compositions and punchy drums of Phries Beats complements the adult level storytelling ability and crafty word play of Carta’ P. The project successfully highlights his lyrical creativity about self-elevation, personal relationships and his views on social awareness and American Politics. Additionally, the collaboration/ effective use of “one producer” gives this thirteen-track project its own unique sound and creative fluidity.
On tracks like “In My Silence” and “CIA, Carta’ P. takes an introspective approach into self-elevation and personal/ professional growth. On tracks like “Cheers”, “Oprah” and “Dana” he explores the ups and downs of personal relationships and friendships. Lastly, on tracks like “Tamika” and “45” featuring Breeze Brewin’ of The Juggaknots, Carta’ P. voices his opinions and views on social injustice, police misconduct and political awareness.
