Professor Brian Oblivion is a producer and DJ whose sample based, boom bap style is rooted in Golden Era Hip Hop while constantly exploring new treatments. Utilizing turntables, an MPC and a diverse sound library ranging from soundtracks, funk, soul, jazz, psych rock, world music and everything in between, he creates a rubric unparalleled. Currently, Professor Oblivion's DJ residencies include a monthly jazz happy hour at the Elbo Room and multiple soul and funk nights at Southside Spirit House in San Francisco.
A followup to the debut LP, "The Dark Realities of the Moment" (2011) and 45 rpm single off the same album, “Feel the Funk (The Government is Robbing Everybody Blind)”, Professor Brian Oblivion returns with an open instrumental single, “Hopscotch”, a hard hitting track that will be sure to ride the felt of beat junkies and funk lovers alike. Horns punch and swell like a heavyweight on fight night. The bonus break features a stripped down drum section perfect for any beat juggler. Swinging to the other end of the spectrum, the 45 exclusive track, “Soul Drift,” provides listeners with a classic B side slow jam. Included with each record is a hand stamped "Clockwise Records" sleeve.
