With his popular “Live From The Streets” web series (Noisey/Vice), Mr. Green has forged a reputation for harnessing the serendipitous musical moments that arise from life’s chance encounters with talented musicians. So when he had one of those encounters with The Legendary Roots Crew emcee, Malik B, outside of The Roots’ Annual Picnic in 2012, it made perfect sense that they would turn a brief moment of mutual inspiration into a full-fledged collaborative album. Malik B and Mr. Green’s collaborative album, Unpredictable, is an appropriate title for the 13-track journey through the kind of handcrafted hip-hop created when two skilled musicians come together to capture the mystique that unpredictably arrives during the recording process. “Malik would show up at the studio with a garbage bag of rhymes and go through them. Some of them were old and weathered, literally falling apart,” describes Mr. Green. “Then he would just start recording the song in one take: intro, verses, chorus. It was nothing like I’d seen before.” Although recording Unpredictable was chaotic at times, the duo’s chemistry is undeniable. Malik adds, “Our chemistry is just crazy; our chemistry is like algebra.
ATR is a one of a kind reggae collective based in Parkside Brooklyn. Founded by Scrillamatic and KG, at their core they are just group of friends who hang out in the park and sing, all day. The routine is simple, they meet up at their favorite hangout spot on the side of a lake, play beats off of a beat up but loud stereo, and belt out lyrics out into the air. Sometimes a crowd gathers but it’s usually just a few like minded artists sharing their love for music. Natives of the west indies, but coming of age in Brooklyn, they have a very unique perspective on life and the world we live in. With subject matters varying from traditional roots medleys, smoked out ganja anthems to gangsta badman chants to heartfelt soulful ballads telling tales of the ghetto and more, they have a lot to say.

Live from the Streets' is a video series created by producer Mr. Green and director Sam Lipman-Stern. The series, which airs on Noisey, follows Green globally on a journey meeting interesting people and musicians on the streets. Green samples their music; interviews the street performer; and then turns the sounds into original beats. After the beat is created, he collaborates with one of his favorite rappers to add powerful lyrics to the musical backdrop he and the street musician constructed. Finally, at the end of each episode, Green revisits the people he sampled to play theam the final track; often times receiving emotional responses from people who have never heard themselves on recorded audio. The final episodes are a unique hybrid music/video experience. Mr. Green is now preparing to release his first ever Live From The Streets album on vinyl in collaboration with Fat Beats.
