A-Trak established his reputation as a producer by delivering some of the most ubiquitous remixes of the last ten years. The Grammy nominated DJ hero and renowned tastemaker has built a legacy that traverses eras and scenes, with a discography that is adored by all. This body of work is commemorated for the first time with In The Loop. The 12-track compilation (out in December on Fool’s Gold) effectively traces a recent history of EDM from the point of view of one of its biggest stars, collecting A-Trak’s most notable remixes — from blog favorites to festival smashes — and contextualizing them with anecdotes from their creator. In The Loop: A Decade Of Remixes will be available on all digital services and CD, as well a beautiful limited edition vinyl box set; the latter features six 7” colored vinyl singles in custom sleeves, accompanied by a 32 page booklet with A-Trak’s behind-the-scenes stories on each remix. Read his introduction below: I learned how to produce by doing remixes. It was my testing ground. In 2006 I had been DJing for over 10 years and my brother Dave was a seasoned musician, but I was still a novice in the studio. Making a full original song can be daunting, so here I was able to hand-pick my favorite vocals, steal a few kickdrums and chop up some cool synths. My remixes also allowed me to get my music heard. I didn’t have to finish a full project. They gave me an à la carte formula, landing on various labels. The great thing about remixes is they create an ecosystem. It’s almost like a shared economy. They forge bonds between artists: a remix request is the equivalent of giving your peer a pound and saying “you’re dope, give me some of that sauce.” They connect bands to DJs, producers among themselves, and all of them to new fans. For me this all started as electronic music blogs were spreading. We rarely went through managers. You would track down someone’s email and hit them up, cold. We helped each other finish tracks. I often delivered mine very, very late. But even to this day as I work on more original music, my sound is the result of these experiments.

Bundle includes official 2016 reissues of Beck's seminal classics, Odelay and Sea Change, on LP and 2xLP vinyl, respectively. Odelay (LP -140 Gram Vinyl)Originally released in June of 1996, Beck's second major label album, Odelay, was his chance to prove that he was no one-hit wonder. His major label debut, Mellow Gold, had produced the hit single "Loser," but there was a sense he hadn't quite won over everyone and it was hard to tell exactly who Beck was. Was he joking? Was he serious? Was he simply some sort of beat-poet novelty act? With Odelay, he enlisted the Dust Brothers, most famous at this point for being behind the boards for the Beastie Boys' 1989 sonic-collage opus Paul's Boutique. Together they crafted a classic. Sea Change (2xLP - Gatefold + Download Card)Drawing from hip-hop, folk, psychedlia, pop, rock and experimental, Beck defined himself as a warped poet in the '90s. Always changing and evloving his moods, Sea Change is a prime example of the singer/songwriters evolution within his craft. The finest example of Beck's talents as a singer, songwriter and musician.

Limited edition red translucent vinyl. Trout Mask Replica is Captain Beefheart's masterpiece, a fascinating, stunningly imaginative work that still sounds like little else in the rock & roll canon. Given total creative control by producer and friend Frank Zappa, Beefheart and his Magic Band rehearsed the material for this 28-song double album for over a year, wedding minimalist R&B, blues, and garage rock to free jazz and avant-garde experimentalism.
Cassius’ story thus far is already the stuff of dance music mythology. They emerged amidst Paris' defining French Touch movement, where the likes of ‘Feeling For You’, ‘1999’ and ‘The Sound of Violence’ - alongside friends such as Daft Punk - helped shape the future of electronic music. Cassius is back with “Ibifornia”, a double-sided album which gathers their crew of friends (Pharrell, Cat Power, Mike D...), fondly nicknamed “Cassius and their Family Stone” by the duo.

This limited edition issue of Lord Willin’ features seven “big hole” 7”s on white vinyl covering all 13 tracks in the original album sequence, plus a bonus remix of “Grindin‘”. The vinyl is housed in a plastic case featuring the original album art and each 7” is housed in a mini Star Trak die-cut jacket – replicas of the label’s original 12” sleeves. The first hip-hop group signed to The Neptunes' newly formed Star Trak label in the early 2000s was a Virginia based duo known as The Clipse. The group’s first single “Grindin’,” impacted young people with its bare-boned but infectious drum beat in the same way that Run-DMC’s “Sucker MCs” did almost two decades earlier. MCs Pusha T and Malice, combined with The Neptunes’ groundbreaking production, sent a clear message to the rap world – “we are not the same” (as rapped by Malice on his opening verse on “Cot’ Dam”). Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo were able to combine their electro-punk production with just the right group to create a street masterpiece. Following in the footsteps of such rap criminologists as Kool G Rap, Nas, Jay-Z and Mobb Deep, the Clipse offer a hustler's viewpoint, with clever, hard-hitting lyrics that are consistent throughout the album. The album starts off pulling no punches. On the lead-off track, “Intro,” you get a very personal testament of crack and the drug game, a recurring motif. Songs like “Virginia” or “I’m Not You” (featuring Jadakiss, Styles P and Roscoe P Coldchain) have lyrics that play as a musical notes alongside The Neptunes’ tailored beats. “Young Boy” and “Comedy Central” fit perfectly alongside “When the Last Time” and “Cot Dam” as each song plays its part as chapters to the Lord Wilin’ masterpiece. And the stand-out “Gangsta Lean” features a slightly lighter feel paired with Pharrell's trademark falsetto hook. All in all, each song on Lord Willin’ – which was certified Gold – is essential to making it the classic that it. Fans can’t deny that it sounds as good today as it did when it first hit in 2002.
We're proud to team up with one of our very favorite labels in the world, the endlessly inspiring Constellation Records, to offer their three Fall 2016 releases at in a very discounted bundle, Bundle contains Off World's 1, Automatisme's Momentform Accumulations and Jason Sharp's A Boat Upon Its Blood, each on 180 gram vinyl LP. From the label: We’re staking out some “electronic music” terrain with three new releases this fall, all dropping on September 30th. While our label has always tried to avoid genre tags (increasingly a losing battle given the state of music platforms and discovery these days) and while the world of electronic music is surely the broadest and thorniest landscape of all in this regard, suffice it to say that Off World, Automatisme and Jason Sharp are very different yet satisfyingly leftfield albums that share some suitably frayed electric threads of sorts. Electronic music strategies, technologies, histories and sensibilities come into play, in very diverse ways, with each of these debut records – making them stand out a little differently in the context of the Constellation catalogue perhaps, but also informing one another and making a lot of sense to our ears as an album trio (somewhat in the spirit of our Musique Fragile series). The bundle includes: CST117 • Off World • 1 CST118 • Automatisme • Momentform Accumulations CST119 • Jason Sharp • A Boat Upon Its Blood

Cypress Hill teamed up with Get On Down to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their 1991 debut with an ultra deluxe "25th Anniversary Skull" reissue. The entire set is housed in a unique, hard resin black skull - a faithful, 3-D physical recreation of the group's 1991 logo. A CD with remastered audio and a 100-plus page hardcover book are also included. The book features extensive liner notes by journalist Chris Faraone with input from B-Real, Sen Dog and DJ Muggs, and also includes full album lyrics and rarely seen photos provided by the group, as well as press clippings from 1991. Cypress Hill’s self-titled debut album was hard as nails, with very few pop concessions. There was humor, but it was laced by cackling, homicidal sneering. Not well known outside of the hardcore hip-hop scene at first, faces of the three group members weren’t usually shown clearly in press photos; they preferred the shadows. As their first singles began hitting the airwaves and record racks, the press and music fans started to take notice. From the opening notes of the group’s first single, “The Phuncky Feel One,” to deeper album cuts like “Stoned Is The Way Of The Walk” and “Tres Equis,” it was clear that Cypress Hill was something different. And very, very dope. The world Cypress Hill espoused was gang-ridden and far from cheery, but they managed to laugh through the pain. Lead rapper B-Real took each fuzzed-out, rock-hard DJ Muggs beat as a challenge, jumping around it like a spark off a joint as it makes its way to the concrete. MC Sen Dog always had B-Real’s back, to bring intensity and a no-bullshit gruffness that made the group both menacing and unpredictable. When they introduced percussionist Eric Bobo to the mix in the early 90s, it brought new dimension to the band, making their live performances one of the most unique and accomplished shows in hip-hop. Journalist and author Chris Faraone highlights the group’s relationship in the reissue’s liner notes (which is included only in limited edition Skull) saying, “[By the late ‘80s] the undisputed Cypress unit finally formed. B and Sen realized that their diametric styles - the latter’s deep wrangle, the former’s inimitable high notes - complemented one another righteously. By then Muggs had bangers in the bag, as well as industry experience from a jaunt with the New York duo 7A3. B and Sen waited while Muggs messed with 7A3, and in that time began to build the blueprint for their raucous and weeded no-holds-barred style. Besides getting schooled on industry pitfalls, Muggs had also grown into hip-hop’s most formidable young producer, while straddling the bi-coastal gap.” Cypress Hill’s debut went gold by the end of 1991 and has since pushed past double platinum status, making it the first album for a Latino-American hip hop group to do so. The album received raves from the likes of Rolling Stone and the Los Angeles Times, saw a #1 Hot Rap Single with the release of “The Phuncky One” and helped the band win Artist Of The Year at the 1992 Source Awards. After 25 years, it should come as no surprise that Cypress Hill is a cornerstone of the group’s live set to this day.
“The positive response and ongoing success of How It Should Sound 1 & 2 (first released in 2010) was as unexpected for Redefinition as a label as it was for myself as an artist. For the 5th anniversary I wanted to do something special to acknowledge what is arguably my most popular title: I figured that more music in the form of an extended sequel would be a dope way to celebrate. The tracks are combinations of obvious influences, my personal passion to contribute and challenge the craft, and the record collection I was building. I hope the audience is ready for more HISS. I had them in mind first whilst assembling the album.” - Damu The Fudgemunk If you’re reading this, we’ll assume that you are more than ready. Welcome to another installment of archived material from one of the finest purveyors of dusty, neck-snapping instrumentals to ever lay his fingers on those trusty sixteen pads: Damu The Fudgemunk. Pulled together from the same stack of basement-dwelling floppies that went into the creation of HISS Vol 1& 2 we here at Redefinition Records are confident that fans old and new will delight in this now expanded collection of material from the formative years of Damu’s craft. The (previously unheard / unreleased) beats featured in this collection were all created between 2003 and 2007 and although time moves on there are undoubtedly some things that are timeless. This is instrumental hip hop that stays true to its roots whilst building on tradition, the crack and pop of old vinyl nestled contentedly in layered compositions that knock, swing, and groove. Relax and enjoy: perhaps unsurprisingly, it sounds just like it should.
First pressing of 1000 numbered copies on blue/black/white marbled 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl, includes gatefold sleeve and 4-page booklet. The soundtrack to Tim Burton's neo classic moving picture Big Fish (2003), starring Ewan McGregor, Helena Bonham Carter, Marion Cotillard and Jessica Lange, collects classic Pop songs and a score of longtime collaborator Danny Elfman (Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, Mars Attacks! and others). The 2LP soundtrack also contains a new song from Pearl Jam, specifically written for the movie: "Man of the Hour". The soundtrack's Pop songs range from Bing Crosby's early-'30s Jazz hit "Dinah" to the '50s nostalgia of Buddy Holly's "Everyday" and Elvis Presley's "All Shook Up", right up to the '60s and '70s recollections of Canned Heat's "Let's Work Together" and "Ramblin' Man" by the Allman Brothers Band. The album was nominated for the Academy Award and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.
Since its introduction in 1992, over 400 million of R.L. Stine's Goosebumps books have been printed in 32 languages, earning critical acclaim and dominating global best seller lists. Now, the literary phenomenon gets its big screen debut. Its story revolves around a teenager who teams up with the daughter of a young R.L. Stine (played by Jack Black), after the writer's imaginary demons are set free on the town of Greendale, Maryland. The score to Goosebumps is in the hands of industry icon Danny Elfman. Over the last 30 years, Elfman has established himself as one of the most versatile and accomplished film composers in the industry. He is known for creating The Simpsons main title theme, and scoring many movies, including the majority of his long-time friend Tim Burton's films. He has also collaborated with such directors as Gus Van Sant, Sam Raimi, Ang Lee, Guillermo del Toro, Brian De Palma, and Peter Jackson. His impressive resume mentions film scores for a.o. Milk, Good Will Hunting, Big Fish and Men in Black (all Oscar nominated), Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Mission: Impossible, Planet of the Apes, Spider-Man (1 & 2) and many more. Elfman won a Grammy Award for Tim Burton's Batman, and an Emmy Award for his Desperate Housewives theme.

Joseph Abajian (DJ Jab) founded Fat Beats in 1994 with nothing more than a shoestring budget and an earnest obsession with the music, the culture, and the brotherhood of New York’s burgeoning rap scene. What began as a simple vinyl shop in Manhattan’s Lower East Side quickly became an integral hub for artists, both aspiring and established, to convene and collaborate on new projects. Joseph’s timing couldn’t have been more impeccable. When the 90’s cultural zeitgeist – and, in turn, the music industry establishment – chose hip-hop as its new arbiter of cool.
International tourists and touring artists alike flocked to Fat Beats for rare vinyl, kindred spirits, and exclusive in-store performances from Jay Z, Eminem, Gang Starr, Outkast, Slum Village, Mos Def, and more. One thing was clear: the Fat Beats phenomenon could no longer be contained in a single basement shop.
In the late nineties, Abajian proceeded to open new stores in Amsterdam, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. He further expanded the company’s profile to include global distribution and record label branches. Distribution has since proven to be the company’s strongest and most enduring enterprise. Today Fat Beats Distribution stands poised as one of the country’s pre-eminent distributors of vinyl & specialty item records: a proud survivor in an industry now famous for its mortality rate. Despite market fluctuations, technology innovations, and stylistic revolutions, Fat Beats has remained steadfast in its commitment to the timeless vinyl format and to the loyal community who keeps it spinning.
